Plastic is the main material for making tarpaulin. However, when using this material, some additives are often added to enhance its performance. Heat stabilizer is one of them. Its addition mainly prevents the degradation of plastic due to heating. However, what kinds of heat stabilizers can be added during production?
1) Organotin: this kind of heat stabilizer is mainly used for various soft PVC products requiring transparency. Commonly used varieties are maleates, mercaptans and carboxylic esters. Among them, di-n-octyl tin maleate and s, s'- bis (isooctyl thioglycolate) di-n-octyl tin can be used as non-toxic stabilizers for food and pharmaceutical packaging materials.
2) Special purpose heat stabilizer: refers to some pure organic compounds with specific effects, such as those used in alkaline lotion polymerization of PVC α- Phenylindole, aminocrotonate, pentaerythritol or dicyandiamide used in asbestos filled PVC flooring materials.
3) Lead salt: a kind of heat stabilizer used earlier. It has good long-term thermal stability, weather resistance and electrical insulation, but it affects the transparency of the product, is toxic, has initial coloring, is prone to vulcanization pollution, and has poor compatibility and dispersion with PVC. Lead salt has no lubricity, so it should be used together with metal soap lubricants. Common varieties include tribasic lead sulfate and dibasic lead phosphite. It is mainly used in the manufacture of opaque PVC plates, pipes, wire and cable sheaths.
4) Compound metal salt: a kind of general heat stabilizer. It is usually sold in the form of liquid, paste or powder. The commonly used varieties are barium cadmium, barium calcium zinc, barium zinc, calcium zinc and calcium magnesium stannous zinc higher fatty acid salts. This kind of heat stabilizer is often used together with organic auxiliary agents (such as phosphite, epoxy compounds, polyols, phenolic antioxidants, etc.) to form a compound heat stabilizer suitable for different processing processes and product application requirements.
